CHAI School
(Community Hebrew Academic Institute)
The CHAI School offers pre-Hebrew, Hebrew, and Confirmation classes for ages 4 to 15.
Dedicated to the Jewish education of our youth, CHAI School instruction is held twice weekly (Thursday afternoons and Sunday mornings). Here teaching methods mirror current public school teaching styles in that students are often brought together in groups for cooperative learning activities and discussions. There are many hands-on projects and games. Rather than simply reading chapters and answering questions, there is more drama and acting out of Biblical stories. There is less emphasis on ancient Hebrew so students are more able to participate in social conversations in Hebrew. There is even access to studying Hebrew, the Talmud and Israel on the computer.
